Citation Style

Which style should you use?
Different disciplines format papers and cite sources in different ways.  If you are writing for a class, look to the professor for guidance on style.  If writing for publication, look on the journal website for guidelines or contact the journal editor.
Here is a general breakdown of what styles are used in different fields of study:

AAA (American Anthropology Association): Anthropology
AMA (American Medical Association): Medicine
APA (American Psychological Association): Business, Education, Psychology, Social Sciences
ASA: (American Sociological Association): Sociology
CSE (Council of Science Editors): Science
MLA (Modern Language Association): Literature, the Arts, and the Humanities
Chicago (Documentary-Note or Author-Date System): Literature, History, the Arts, as well as Physical, Natural, and Social Sciences
